This crochet headband ear warmer pattern will keep you warm and toasty. It has a gorgeous texture that is easy to work.
The pattern comes in 4 sizes, Toddler, Child, and Adult sizes. The stitch looks complicated but is a no-brainer.
The stitch is a one-row repeat and uses only front post stitches to give it that beautiful texture. It takes just about 100 yards of yarn and makes a great stash buster. I hope you will enjoy whipping up a few.
Crochet Headband Ear Warmer Pattern
Materials
1. Worsted weight size 4 yarn. Vanna’s Choice yarn in colors Fisherman and Silver Heather, and Loops and Threads Impeccable yarn in color Gold was used for the samples.
2. A size 7 (4.5 mm) hook.
3. Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.
Finished Size
Toddler: 3″ wide and 16″ in circumference
Child: 4″ wide and 18″ in circumference
Adult Small/Medium: 4″ wide and 19″ in circumference
Adult Large: 4″ wide and 20″ in circumference
Yardage
90 yards for the Toddler size and 100 yards for the bigger sizes.

ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
sk: skip
YO: yarn over
fpdc: front post double crochet (explanation is given below)

Stitch Explanations
fpdc (front post double crochet): See a tutorial for front post double crochet on my blog here: Front Post and Back Post Double Crochet Tutorial.
fpsc (front post single crochet): Front post single crochet (fpsc) is worked by inserting your hook just like a front post double crochet. The only difference is that you will be working a single crochet in place of double crochet.
V-st: (dc, ch 1, dc) all worked into the same ch-1 space.
sc2tog: It is a decrease that joins two sts into one. Pull up a loop in the next 2 sts, YO, and pull through all the 3 loops on your hook to complete a sc2tog.
FLO: Instead of inserting your hook under both the loops, insert your hook just under the front loop of the st. For example, to work a hdc in the FLO, YO, insert your hook under the front loop of the st and complete a hdc as usual.

Stitch counts for bigger sizes are given in the order Toddler (Child, Adult Small/Medium, Adult Large)
Ch 75 ( 85, 90, 95). The initial chain is a multiple of 5. Sl st to the first ch without twisting the ch.
Round 1: Ch 1, 1 sc in the back bump of the same ch. 1 sc in the back bump of each ch across to end, sl st to first sc. ——75 (85, 90, 95) sts
Make sure your work is not twisted before you proceed. If it is, unravel the sl st, untwist it, and sl st again to join. The chain ring will look big but will shrink as you add more rounds.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), 1 dc in same st as ch 3, ch 1, 2 dc in next st, *(sk next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, ch 1, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * to last 3 sts, sk the last 3 sts, sl st to top of beginning ch 3, turn.——16 (18, 19, 20)repeats
Round 3: Sl st to next dc, fpsc in next dc, ch 2, V-st in next ch-1 space, fpdc in next dc, sk next 2 dc sts, *(1 fpdc in next dc, V-st in next ch-1 space, 1 fpdc in next dc, sk next 2 dc), repeat from * to end, sl st to top of beginning ch2, turn.—–16 (18, 19, 20) repeats
Repeat Row 3 twice for size Toddler and 4 more times for Child and Adult sizes.
Next Row: Ch 1, sk next dc, *(fpsc in next dc, 2 sc in ch-1 space, fpsc in next dc, sk next 2 dc sts), repeat from * to end, sl st to first fpsc, and turn.
Last Row: Ch 1, 1 hdc in FLO of same st as ch 1, 1 hdc in FLO of each st across to end, sl st to first hdc, fasten off.
Adding a Row to the Foundation Chain Side
Sl st to the point where you have your beginning tail, working in the FLO throughout, 1 sc in the same st, 1 sc in the next st, *(sc2tog across the next 2 sts, 1 sc in the next st, sc2tog across the next 2 sts, 1 sc in the next 2 sts), repeat from * and if you have 1 or 2 sts left at the end, work a sc or sc2tog respectively, sl st to the first st and fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in any tails left. The band will look slightly wider on the foundation chain side. Slightly tug the other edge to make it bigger. Enjoy your new ear warmer!
