Dishcloths or washcloths are probably the first items a beginner crocheter would make. Make a few of them using this crochet pattern and you have an eco-friendly towel for all your kitchen cleaning purposes. Make them in different colors, say one for cleaning your dishes and one for cleaning your kitchen surface and so on. Take care to use 100% cotton yarn for good absorbency as well as that roughness that will leave your dishes squeaky clean.
1. Worsted weight cotton yarn. Bernat Handicrafter Cotton DeLux in colors Olive and Purple were used for the samples along with a small amount of Lily Sugar n’ Cream in color Ecru for the border.
2. Hook H(5 mm)
3. Yarn needle for weaving in the ends

Im almost through the 2nd row and I have huge holes underneath the stitches. What am I doing wrong? I try to hold everything tight while working the stitch, but I always end up with the huge holes underneath stitches.

I made this dishcloth a couple of days ago for a friend’s birthday in a nice lemony yellow color and she loved it! I plan to make a bunch more for gifts! I love your patterns. All your dishcloth patterns will also make great baby blankets, too, because there are no holes as I make baby blankets for the Linus Project as well. I love your nice simple, sit-in-front-of-the-TV patterns! Thanks!
