Sole Pattern
Tips for sole
1. Count your stitches after every round.
2. At end of each round when the pattern says sl st into the beginning ch 1, you sl stitch into the next
visible st, and when it says sl st into the 1st sc of the round, you skip ch 1 (the next st visible ) and slip st into the next st (the 1st sc).
3. Sole is worked in the round without turning at the end of each round.
4. Working both the left and right soles together will help you get the sandals in the same size. They follow the same pattern.
Sole Pattern (0-3 Months Only)

1. Work around the foundation chain without turning
With F(3.75mm) hook and gray color yarn, chain 12.

Using F hook and gray color yarn, chain 13 (14, 16).
Round 1: 1 sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next 6 sts (7 sts, 8 sts), 1 hdc in next 4 sts (4 sts, 5 sts), 3 hdc in the last ch, work along the opposite side of the foundation chain as shown in pic 1 above, 1 hdc in next 4 sts (4 sts, 5 sts), 1sc in each chain across, sl st to beginning ch 1———– 26 sts (28 sts, 32 sts)

Make 4 soles as you will need 2 for each sandal.
Joining the two soles together (for all 4 sizes)
Notes:
1. Use the bright color yarn for joining the soles together.
2. Stitch counts are given in the order 0-3 ( 3-6, 6-9, 9-12)months.

2. Overlap 2 soles and sl st starting at the toe side

3. Sl st forms a border
Using F hook for sizes 0-3 and 3-6 months and G hook for bigger sizes, keep two soles one under the other with the wrong sides touching each other, and sl st around them starting from the toe side as shown in pic 2 above. Don’t make your slip stitches too tight as you will have to work into them to make the heel side of the shoe. Tuck all the yarn tails in between the soles before you start slip stitching. See pic 3 above for the finished sole. ————-40 (43, 45, 49)sl sts
Upper
Notes
1. The upper is worked into the contrasting color slip stitches you used to join the two soles together.
2. The upper is also worked in the bright contrasting color.
3. The toe strap is worked as a continuation of the heel side.
0-3 (3-6 months)
Placing Markers before starting Round 1

4. Fold the sole along the long middle line, count back 5 (5, 6, 7) st as shown, and place a marker on each side

5. You will get 10 (10, 12, 14) st marked symmetrically when you open the fold
1. Mark 10 slip stitches on the heel side of the sole. To mark 10 sts symmetrically, fold the sole lengthwise as shown in pic 4 above and count back half the number of stitches, that is 5 st and place the marker. Repeat on the other side. Once you open your fold you will have 10 stitches marked symmetrically as shown in pic 5.

6. The green dot indicates the point where the strap joins the sole, place a marker at the point

7. Marker placed at the green dot
2. Use pic 6 above as a guide and place a marker to indicate the point where the toe strap joins the sole for the right sandal. The toe strap is worked as a continuation of the heel side.
Round 1

8. Start working Round 1 from the marked st as shown

9. Ch 4, skip 4 st and work 2 dc

10. Chain for the toe strap

11. Sl stitch it to the sole at the marked point

This is the tricky part, so take your time.

12. Work up along the chain and sl st into 3 chs

13. Chain again for strap on the other side
Step 2: Proceed to work back along the chain just made as shown in pic 12 above, sl st into the first 3 chains (this will form the part that goes between the toes), ch 6 (7) for the strap on the right side as seen in pic 13 above.
Note: For step 3 below you might have to hold the loop on your hook with your thumb to work the dc st after the long chain.
Step 3: Skip 20 (21) stitches from the dc you last made and work 1 dc in the next 2 sts, ch 3 (4), Skip 3 (4) sts, sl st to first dc you made into the marked st at the beginning of the round. Do not turn.

Do not turn.
Round 3 (partial round worked only on heel side): 1 hdc into the next sc st on the heel side, 1 hdc in next 5 st, sl st to next st; turn.

16. This is how the sandal will look after fastening off.
Round 4 (partial round worked only on heel side): Ch 1, 1 sc in next st, 1 hdc in next 4 st, 1 sc in next, sl st to next st; fasten off. Your sandal will now look like in pic 16.
Upper (Left Sandal)

17. The green dot indicates the point where the strap joins the sole, place a marker at the point
Work exactly the same as the right sandal but when you slip st the chain strap (toe strap) to the sole, do it at the point indicated for Left Sandal in Pic 17 above. You can place a marker at the point before you start working on the left sandal.

To mark 12 st symmetrically, fold the sole lengthwise as shown in pic 4 above and count back half the number of stitches, that is 6 st, and place the marker. Repeat on the other side. Once you open your fold you will have 12 stitches marked symmetrically as shown in pic 5.
3. Use pic 6 above as a guide and place a marker to indicate the point where the strap joins the sole for the right sandal. The toe strap is worked as a continuation of the heel side.

Finishing (for all the sizes)

18. Work a round of slip stitch inserting hook only through outer or back loop as shown
1. Using gray color yarn and F hook for 0-3 and 3-6 months, and gray color yarn and G hook for bigger sizes, start from the heel side and do a round of slip stitches working only through the outer loops or back loops of the stitches around the top opening as shown in pic 18. Fasten off.

19. Work your way through the inner layer of sts on the ankle side until you reach the sole

20. Insert the needle between the two layers of sole and pull the yarn tail

21. Pull the yarn tail tightly and cut close to the sole
2. The tail from the gray color slip stitches you just made might unravel if you weave in along the slip stitch border itself. So thread the tail with a yarn needle and work your way through the inside of the heel side taking care to work only through the inner layer of stitches till you reach the sole as shown in pic 19. Once you reach the sole pull the yarn tail in between the two layers of soles as shown in pic 20, and tug and trim close to the sole as shown in pic 21.
3. Hide any remaining tails between the soles in the same way.
