Pattern Notes

1. The poncho is made from 2 rectangles of the same size. You leave a hole for the neck and sl st the rest of the rectangle together to make the poncho.

2. You can wear it horizontally in which case the poncho will have a boat neck and the seam at the shoulders. You can also wear it vertically with the seam running in the middle which will give it a V-neck look.

3. Stitch counts for bigger sizes are given in brackets in the order S(M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL).

Back Panel

Make one more rectangle following the pattern for the front panel.

Assembling the Poncho

sew leaving gap for neck

Sl st leaving a gap for the neck

The rectangles will be joined at the foundation chain sides and not at the last row. This way, it makes it easier if you want to add to the length of the poncho.

On the foundation ch side, measure 17.5 (18, 18.25, 18) (18.5, 18.5, 19.5, 19.5)” from one corner and place a marker. Measure the same length from the opposite corner and place a marker. Repeat with the second panel.

You will have a gap of 9 (10, 11, 11.5) (12, 12, 13, 13″) between the 2 markers for the neck hole.

Place the 2 rectangles with the right side (RS) touching each other and sew the marked parts with a sl st seam. The middle part should be left free for the neck opening.

Finishing

Weave in all the ends.
