Say hello to the Spring Parade Blanket—a cozy, colorful celebration of all things cheerful and bright! Bursting with the happy hues of springtime, this blanket crochet pattern is like a little parade of petals and sunshine.
It’s stitched up using the super plush, ultra-soft Bernat Blanket yarn, so you know it’s going to be extra snuggly and quick to work up. Whether you want to add it to your sunroom or gift it to a baby, this chunky chenille throw brings the fun.
The cluster stitch creates a beautiful floral pattern while still being approachable for most crocheters. Plus, it works up faster than you can say “April showers bring May flowers!”
And guess what? There’s a matching plushie pattern marching in right behind it, ready to join the parade and complete the set. It’s the perfect duo for gifting, decorating, or just keeping all to yourself (no judgment here!).
So grab your hook and your happiest yarn shades—it’s time to start the parade!

Pattern Notes
1. You will be working with 3 skeins of yarn at a time, one in each color. Try to center pull from all the skeins if possible.
2. For the sake of convenience, we will call the colors white, sage, and purple. The stripes go in the order sage, white, and purple.
3. When changing colors, don’t fasten off—simply drop the current yarn and leave it for later. The yarn is carried along the side of your work and will be hidden once you add the border.
4. Each time you switch colors, bring the new working yarn to your left and under the other two skeins. This is key in keeping your yarn strands from tangling.
5. You will change colors at the end of every cluster stitch row. To join a new color while working your last dc or tr, start working your dc or tr as usual, and when you have 2 loops left on your hook, YO and pull through the new color to complete your st.
With sage color yarn, Ch 71. You can ch any multiple of 4+3 if you want to make your afghan a different width.
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook (skipped ch does not count as a st), 1 sc in next, *(ch 2, sk 2 chs, 1 sc in next 2 sts), repeat from * to end of the row, turn.——-17 ch-2 spaces
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), (cl, ch 2, cl) in next ch-2 space and each ch-2 space across, 1 dc in last sc while joining the white color yarn, drop the sage yarn to pick up later, turn.—–17 Cluster V-sts
Row 3: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 1 sc in first st, ch 1, 2 sc in next ch-2 space, *(ch 2, 2 sc in next ch-2 space), repeat from * until you work 2 sc in last ch-2 space, ch 1, 1 sc on top of beg ch-3, turn.——16 ch-2 spaces +1 ch-1 space at each end
Note: The ch-1 spaces will be hard to see while working the next row. Just be aware that there is one ch-1 space right after the first sc and one right before the last sc.
Row 4: Ch 4 (counts as a dc+ ch1), 1 cl in adjacent ch-1 space, (cl, ch2, cl) in next ch-2 space and each ch-2 space across, 1 cl in next ch-1 space, ch 1, 1 tr in last sc while joining purple color yarn, drop the white yarn to pick up later, turn.——16 Cluster V-sts+1 cluster on each end
Row 5: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in adjacent ch-1 space, *(ch 2, 2 sc in next ch-2 space), repeat from * until you work 2 sc in last ch-2 space, ch 2, 1 sc on top of beg ch-4, 1 sc in next ch, turn.—-17 ch-2 spaces
Repeat Rows 2-5 while changing colors after every cluster st row. Keep repeating until your blanket is approximately 36 inches long and you end in a sage stripe, join the white color back while working the last st of your row, and proceed to work the border with it.
Border
Side 1: Ch 1 with the white color joined. Distribute sc sts along the left edge by working 3 sc across each stripe to the next corner. Take care to work the sts over the yarn carried along this side.
Side 2: Work 2 more sc in the corner and work along the foundation chain edge, *(1 sc in next 2 chs, sc2tog across next 2 sc, 1 sc in next 2 chs, 1 sc in next 2 sc), repeat from * to next corner, 2 more sc in the corner.
Side 3: Start working along the next edge and work 3 sc across each stripe to the next corner.
Side 4: Work 2 more sc in the corner, *(1 sc in the next 2 cls, 2 sc in the next ch-2 space), repeat from * and after you work sc on top the last 2 cls, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, 2sc in last st, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in any tails left along the back of the blanket.
