Materials

2. Size 7 (4.5mm) hook

3. Yarn needle to weave in the tails

4. A pair of 3/4 inch wooden buttons for embellishment.

Stitch Abbreviations

The pattern is in standard American terms.

ch- chain

st (sts)- stitch (stitches)

sc- single crochet

sl st- slip stitch

hdc- half double crochet

fphdc- Front post half double crochet

YO- yarn over

Stitch Explanations

Front post half double crochet (fphdc): YO and insert your hook into the gap before a st from front to back, bring the hook back up to the front through the next gap between the sts, pull up a loop to the level of the hdc stitch, yarn over and pull through all the 3 loops like a regular hdc. Please click the link to my front post double crochet tutorial with pictures here: Front Post Double Crochet Tutorial. The idea is the same, the only difference will be that in place of the double crochet, you will be working a half double crochet.

hdc2tog: It is a decrease that is worked across 2 sts to join them into one. (YO and pull up a loop in the next st) twice, YO, pull through all the 5 loops on your hook.

hdc3tog: It is a decrease that is worked across 3 sts to join them into one. (YO and pull up a loop in the next st) three times, YO, pull through all the 7 loops on your hook.

sc2tog: It is a decrease that is worked across 2 sts to join them into one. Pull up a loop in the next 2 sts, YO and pull through all the 3 loops on your hook.

Reverse Single Crochet: Worked just like a regular single crochet but you work from left to right and insert you hook into the stitch on the right before pulling up a loop. See pic 1 below:

Working reverse single crochet from left to right

1. Insert your hook into the stitch on the right, pull up a loop, and work a sc
