Pattern for crochet bows- a satisfying 5-minute project!
This versatile crochet bow pattern comes in 2 sizes, making it perfect for both children and adults. You can add a clip or an elastic tie to turn it into a hair accessory.
Whip up a few to add a pop of color to headbands, hats, or even gift packages. With minimal yarn and just a few minutes of your time, you can create a whole bunch of these cuties in different colors to sell at craft fairs or give as homemade gifts.
I made these with Bernat velvet yarn but you can substitute it with any chunky yarn of the same gauge or thickness. I had leftover velvet yarn and wanted to put it to some good use, so these are great stash busters.
Get ready to add a touch of handmade charm with this easy-to-follow crochet hair bow pattern!

How to Crochet A Bow
Woman’s Size Crochet Bow Pattern
Pattern Notes
1. The bow is made in 2 parts.
2. If you want to make your bow bigger, add more chains to your foundation chain.
Top Part of the Crochet Bow
Leaving a 14″ tail, ch 32
Row 1: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next 13 chs, 1 sl st in next 3 sts, 1 sc in next 13 chs, sl st in the last ch, turn.—–31 sts
Note: While working the sl sts at the beginning, end, and middle of the next row, you can go under just one of the loops. These sl sts will reduce bulk where we pinch the bow.
Row 2: Ch 1, sl st in the first st, 1 sc in next 13 sts, 1 sl st in next 3 sts, 1 sc in next 13 sts, sl st in last st, turn.
Repeat Row 2 six more times, sl st the 2 shorter ends together, and fasten off with a long 14″ tail.
Shaping the Bow
Bring the seam to the middle. Pinch the middle and wrap and tie the tails around the middle. Make a couple of knots at the back and leave the tails for later.
The Tail of the Crochet Bow
Leave an 8″tail and ch 27.
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across to end, turn.—–26 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in first st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each st across to last 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in last st, turn.—–28 sts
Row 3: Repeat Row 2—-30 sts
Row 4: Ch 1, 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st across to last 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in last st, fasten off with an 8″ tail.
Weave in the tails all the way up to the middle of the piece. This is to ensure that the tails will be securely held in place when we wrap yarn around the middle. Velvet yarn is slippery and ends can poke out. You can also secure the ends with some clear-drying fabric glue like Fabric Tac.
Assembling the Bow
Now fold the tail in half to find the middle, align it with the middle of the top part, and use the remaining yarn tail to wrap around the tail and join the 2 parts. Make a couple of wraps around the tail and knot behind the bow to secure.
You can use the tails left to sew on an elastic hair tie or a clip. Weave in the remaining tail behind the bow. Your lovely crochet bow is now ready!
