This would be my first pattern with cables but I am sure it won’t be my last. I enjoyed working the texture so much I will definitely be incorporating more cables into my designs. Crochet cables are elevated stitches that look twisted. Though it looks complicated, it is fairly easy to work once you figure out how to work a front post stitch.
To see if this pattern is right for you, see my tutorial on front post and back post double crochet here: How to Work Front Post and Back Post Double Crochet. This particular design uses front post triple crochet which is worked in the same way as a front post double crochet and is far easier than a back post stitch.
Though the crochet pattern looks best in a woman’s size, I have also included baby and child sizes. When you make a slouch hat it is important not to pick stiff yarns as your hat needs to have some drape. I used Vanna’s choice for the yellow and grey hats. A light color would make the cables stand out more as opposed to a dark one.
Slouchy hats always look great with a long coat and boots. So add another one to your wardrobe using this very ladylike pattern. This one is worked with a worsted weight yarn which comes in a multitude of colors. The thickness of the yarn will ensure that you are finished in no time. Make it today and wear it tomorrow!
