This Cute Crochet water bottle holder – makes a very practical gift.
This is a quick and easy project that people of all skill levels can enjoy. It’s a simple project and a great way to practice basic stitches and basic construction.
With all that has been going on, I pretty much try to go on walks every day, so this water bottle cozy will keep my hands free.
This easy pattern was designed to fit 500 ml plastic water bottles, but you can also repeat the last couple of rows and make it tall enough to fit other sizes of water bottles or a stainless steel water bottle as well.
This unique looking carrier would make a great item to sell at summer craft fairs. Who wouldn’t want their hands free?
This easy crochet bottle holder pattern is easy to memorize and once you get the base circle made, you just keep repeating 2 rows to make your crochet water bottle carrier as tall as you want.

Pattern Notes
The crochet bottle carrier is worked from bottom up. The straps are crocheted separately and sewn on to the holder. I found this was the best way to make a sturdy crochet water bottle holder that can hold the weight of water.
Materials
1. Worsted weight cotton yarn. I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton which is a thinner worsted weight yarn. The colors I used are Ecru, Mint, and Camel. You can use your favorite color combos.
2. An F(3.75)mm hook for the holder and a G(4.25)mm for the strap.
3. Tapestry needle to weave in the ends and to sew the straps.
Finished Size
To fit a 500ml plastic bottle. You can also make it fit the average metal bottle by crocheting the last 2 rounds a few more times to the body of the bag.
Yardage
It takes around 100 yards to make one crochet water bottle holder.
Stitch Abbreviations
The pattern is written in US terms.
ch- chain
sc- single crochet
dc- double crochet
sl st- slip stitch
Gauge
Finish all rounds of the base and measure the diameter.
The diameter of the base measured at the widest part is 2-3/4 inches.
Stitch Explanations

If you are making this crochet water bottle sling for a taller metal bottle, you can repeat Rows 2 and 3 more times to fit the height of the bottle.
Leveling Row for Crochet Bottle Sling
Ch 1( counts as a sc), 1 sc in next 4 dc of shell, *(1 sc in next ch-1 space, 1 sc in next 5 dc of shell), repeat from * until you work a sc in last ch-1 space, sl st to beg ch-1. Fasten off.
Straps for your Crochet Water Bottle Carrier
Note: The strap will stretch when you place the bottle of water in it. I have given the strap length in 2 variations to fit your height. Make the shorter strap if you are of medium height and the long strap if you are tall.
Leaving a 12-inch tail, use the larger hook to chain 154( 164 if you are a tall person). Switch back to the smaller hook.
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across to end, turn.——-153(163)sts
Row 2: Ch 1 (counts as a sc), 1 sc in each st across to end. Do not fasten off——-153(163)sts
Slip Stitch Round
Note: A sl st round is worked around the strap to prevent it from stretching too much with use.
Switch back to the bigger hook, ch 1 at the corner, work 2 sl sts across the base of the strap, ch 1 at the next corner, 1 sl st in the free loops of each foundation ch across to the next corner. ch 1 at the corner, work 2 sl sts across the base of the strap, 1 sl st in each st across until you reach the first corner where you started the sl st round, sl st to beg ch-1, fasten off with a 12-inch tail for sewing.
Attaching the Strap to the Crochet Bottle Holder
Insert the strap behind a shell and sew securely in place. I made running stitches in a square shape.
Place the other end of the strap behind the shell that is exactly opposite to the first one and sew in place.
Finishing your Crochet Water Bottle Bag
Weave in any tails left.

Hi question! I made this and adjusted it to fit my hydro flask, and now it’s pretty stretched out and slipping off. Is there any way to prevent that? Or did I miss a step or something? Thank you!

Cotton yarn doesn't normally stretch. Nex time, try adding an elastic tie to the top and crocheting around it maybe?
