This chunky crochet cowl will make a great addition to your wardrobe. The crochet pattern works up quick and is made from just one skein of Big Twist Chunky. I love this chunky yarn because it is not too thick, just the right thickness to show off some texture. The texture on this scarf is created using half double crochet decreases. The cowl was made in color cotton candy which looks nothing like the picture. It is a peachy pink and looks gorgeous.

Hdc2tog: It is a decrease worked across two stitches.[YO, insert your hook into the next space or st indicated and pull up a loop]2 times, YO and pull through all the 5 loops on hook.

Note: The Scarf is made in the round. The more chains you add, the longer your scarf will be. The initial chain should be a multiple of  2.

Round 1(Right side): Ch 90, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch 1, 1 sc in same st as ch 1, ch 1, sk 1, *(1 sc in next ch, ch 1, sk 1), repeat from * till end, sl st to first sc, turn.—–45 sc

Round 2: Sl st into next ch-1 space, pull up the loop on your hook to the height of a hdc st, hdc2tog in the ch-1 space and the next sc, ch 1, *(hdc2tog in next ch-1 space and next sc, ch 1), repeat from * till end, sl st to first hdc2tog, turn.

Round 3: Ch 1, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, ch-1, *(1 sc in next ch-1 space, ch 1), repeat from * till the end, sl st to first sc, turn.

Repeat rounds 2 and 3 alternately till your cowl is close to 9 1/2 inches wide. End with Round 2. My sample had 10 rows of hdc2tog.
