Crochet Dishcloth Pattern

Ch 29. You can chain any number to adjust the size of the dishcloth.

Row 1: 1 hhdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across to end, turn. —-27 sts not counting beg ch

Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 1 hhdc in first st and each st across to end, turn. —–27 sts not including beg ch-1

Keep repeating Row 2 until you have 22 rows completed, but do not fasten off. The edges will be ragged but will get even once we work the border.

Notes

1. When working sc along the left and right edges of the dishcloth where you have no real sts, insert your hook into the body of the st or ch and not into the gaps under them. This will prevent holes from forming.

2. If even after working into the body of the chs, it still leaves a hole, go a little deeper into the crochet fabric and complete your sc.

Round 1: Ch 1 at the corner, but do not turn. Work 2 sc in the corner, and distribute sc sts evenly along the left edge of the dishcloth until you hit the next corner, 3 sc in the corner, 1 sc in each free loop of the foundation ch to next corner, 3 sc in the corner, distribute sc sts evenly along the next edge, 3 sc in the corner, start working your sc tighter, 1 sc in each st of the last row, sl st to 1 st sc, turn.

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in the same st as ch 1, *(sl st in next st, 1 hdc in next st), repeat from * to end. If your last st is a sl st, work a hdc into the same st, and sl st to beginning ch-1, fasten off. If your last st is a hdc, sl st to beginning ch, and fasten off.

Finishing

Wave in any tails left on the back of the dishcloth. Enjoy!
