Materials

1. Lion Brand Mandala in color Valkyrie. You can use any DK weight yarn.

2. Hook G (4mm).

3. Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.

 

Finished Size of Crochet Shawl

46 inches wide and 24 inches from top to the bottom point. You can easily make it bigger by repeating the rows.

 

Yardage

It took one skein of Lion Brand Mandala to make the shawl. Each cake is 590 yards. You might need an additional cake if you want to make the shawl bigger.

The pattern is written in US terms.

ch- chain

sc- single crochet

dc-double crochet

beg- beginning

sk-skip

 

Gauge

9 dc sts= 2 inches. Gauge isn’t crucial for this project.

Ch 6, sl st to the first ch to form a ch ring.

Row 1: Ch 3 ( counts as a dc here and throughout), 5 dc in the ch ring. Turn.——–6 dc

 

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as ch 3, 3 dc in next 2 sts, ch 2, 3 dc in next 2 sts, 3 dc on top of beg ch-3. Turn.——-18 dc

 

Row 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as ch 3, 1 dc in next, *(ch 1, sk 1, 1 dc in next)3 times, ch 1, sk 1, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ch-2 space, (ch 1, sk 1, 1 dc in next)4 times to beg -3, 3 dc on top of beg ch-3. Turn.———-18 dc

Repeat Rows 10 to 13 to make your shawl as big as you want. Every time you repeat one of the rows, the parts between * to * will be worked one extra time.

    How much yarn would you estimate it takes?

      The yardage is already specified. It takes around 580 yards to make a shawl 45 inches wide. If you want it bigger, you will need more.
