Sandy Beach Blanket Crochet Pattern

Share the Love!

This lovely blanket takes just about 4 hours to crochet. The texture is easy to master and the stitch repeat easy to memorize.

Blue blanket on a chair

I used 3 colors but think it would look great in a single neutral shade too. It almost looks like a bean stitch but is a far easier stitch.

Blue blanket with stuffed toy

The stitch pattern created an absolutely squishy textured blanket that you will cherish. I hope you will enjoy making this blanket.

Pattern Notes

1. In parts where the color changes every row, you do not fasten off after each color change but just drop the yarn to pick up later. The yarn will be loosely carried along the side of your work and will get concealed when you add the border.

2. For the sake of convenience, we will call the colors cream, blue, and beige.

3. To join a new color at the end of the round, start working your sc and when you have 2 loops left on your hook, pull through the new color.

5. You will have 3 skeins attached to your work at a time in parts where the color changes every row. To make sure your yarn does not tangle, every time you join a new color, bring it to your left and over the other two colors.

With cream color yarn, ch 51. You can chain any multiple of 2+1 to adjust the width of the blanket.

Border

Notes

1. Now decide which side you want to make the right side of your blanket. You can choose whichever side you find more appealing to your eye. Both the rounds of the border should be worked on the right side.

2. When working the border along the sides, take care to work over the yarn tails carried along the side during color changes.

Round 1:Work along the last row you just completed, sl st and ch 1 at the corner, 1 sc in each st and ch-1 space across to the next corner, 3 sc in the corner, start distributing sc sts along the side of the blanket all the way across to the next corner, 3 sc in the corner, continue to work sc sts along the foundation chain side, work 1 sc into the gaps on either side of each SHD, 3 sc in the corner.

Continue to distribute sc sts along the second side of the blanket until you reach the first corner where you started, 2 sc in the corner, sl st to the first sc, do not turn.

Round 2: *(Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across to the next corner, 3 sc in the corner st), repeat from * until you work all around the blanket, sl st to the first sc, fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in any tails left.
