1. Premier Cotton Sprout 100% cotton DK weight yarn. I used colors Peach, White, and Aqua for the samples.

Finished Size

Child: Measures 12-1/2″ long without the ties and 29″ long including the ties. It is 2-1/8″ wide at the widest point.

Adult: Measures 14-1/2″ long without the ties and 31″ long including the ties. It is 2-1/8″ wide at the widest point.

Back bumps of the chain: The tiny loops found at the back of your foundation ch. See pic 1 above.

Puff Stitch and picot: (YO, insert hook into the st indicated and pull up a tall loop about the height of a dc st) repeat a total of 3 times, YO and pull through all 7 loops on your hook, ch 1 to close the puff st, ch 2, sl st into the closing ch on top of the puff stitch to make your picot. Pattern Notes

1. The headband is worked around the foundation chain without turning your work.

2. Stitch count for bigger sizes is given in the order Child (Adult)

Ch 60 (70). The initial chain is a multiple of 5.

Row 1: Working into the back bumps of the chain, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, place a marker in this stitch, 1 sc in back bump of each ch across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch, do not turn. See pic 3 below. 61 (71 sts)

3. First row of the crochet headband worked along the foundation chain with the hook in the last stitch.

Notes

1. You would have now reached the base of the foundation chain side and should continue working along the base. The stitches will be a little tight, but that is fine.

2. In the next round, we will work chain loops on both sides of the sc Row.

Round 2: 1 sc in next 4 sts, *(ch 5, sk 4 sts, 1 sc in next), repeat from * until 4 sts are left before the marked st, 1 sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in marked st, move the marker up into the first of these 2 sts.

Round 3: 1 sc in next 4 sts, 3 sc in next ch-5 loop, *(ch 3, puff st and picot in next sc, ch 3, 1 sc in next ch-5 space), repeat from * until you work a sc in the last ch-5 loop, 2 more sc in same ch-5 loop, 1 sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts.

2 sc in marked st, move marker up into the first of these 2 sts, 1 sc in next 5 sts, 3 sc in next ch-5 loop, *(ch 3, puff st and picot in next sc, ch 3, 1 sc in next ch-5 space), repeat from * until you work a sc in the last ch-5 loop, 2 more sc in same ch-5 loop, 1 sc in next 7 sts, sl st to next st, ch 40 for tie and fasten off.
